EM&I to the rescue

February 2nd, 2024

The EM&I rescue team managed an emergency, when a third party worker (not EM&I) fainted inside the 4S COT tank, during inspection on the major operator in West Africa FPSO.

Martin Roets, Team Leader, reported ”The team were informed, by the standby man, that someone had fainted inside the tank. The EM&I Dayshift Rescue team was inside the tank and at the Injured Person in under 2 minutes and the nightshift team was on site within 4 minutes of being notified”.

After first aid, the worker regained consciousness and took a few minutes to recover, stating that he felt vertigo. The Rescue Team referred him to the medic on hand, who checked him over and after a few minutes determined that he was able to return to standby duties for the day.

The team leader emphasises ”The response of the EM&I team was outstanding and everyone knew their roles well”. Danny Constantinis, Executive Chairman, also noted a special mention of the prompt actions taken by the rescue team ”in an unpredictable situation, following protocol and having a trained team are crucial for a successful rescue”. He also said ”Congratulations to the whole team for their work and for proving that in EM&I safety comes first”.
